Geneva 2018 – A Quick Recap

This time of year, Velocity Mazda knows almost everyone in East Texas is ready for a getaway, and Mazda’s newest vehicles are the perfect escape. At the 2017 LA Auto show Mazda’s sleek, powerful sedan took center stage, and it just did so again at this month’s Geneva International Motor Show, a top five global event. The auto maker showcased concept cars the Mazda Vision Coupe and the Kai Concept, alongside the 2018 Mazda6 Wagon and Sedan. In case you missed it, here’s the roundup.

The Most Beautiful Concept Car of the Year

In Japanese, Kodo means soul of motion. The Mazda Vision Coupe combines the serene flow of wind and water with the restless vitality of a predator about to spring or a sword poised to strike. Drivers see Kodo in the play of light across the Vision Coupe’s surfaces and its upgraded SkyActiv powertrain performance.

This stunning four-door has such fluid lines you almost can’t stop running your eyes back and forth. It wore a gleaming metallic finish to the Tokyo Motor Show at the end of 2017. Earlier this year it was named “Most Beautiful Concept Car of the Year” at the 33rd Festival Automobile International in France. Mazda RX-Vision won the same honors at the previous year’s event.

The Pioneer

Kai means Pioneer, and the Kai Concept showcases Mazda’s quantum leaps in technology with SkyActiv Vehicle Architecture, revolutionizing the connection between car and driver. SkyActiv-X uses Spark Controlled Compression Ignition (SPCCI) to combine spark-ignited gasoline benefits with the high efficiency of a diesel compression engine. We’ll bring you more on that in the very near future.

Subtle Sophistication

Mazda6 is one of the nation’s favorite midsized sedans, and it just got even better. The exterior features a new mesh grill and fresh chrome details, along with a complete interior overhaul.

The soul of motion concept sings throughout with a streamlined dashboard, new seats and technology so intuitive it feels like it’s reading your mind. Mazda6 is estimated to hit the road in Spring 2018, and at Velocity Mazda we’ll let you know as soon as it’s available. Many Geneva visitors wondered whether the North American model power will eventually become available for the European-spec Mazda6 Tourer.
